Lead SAP Finance Consultant - S/4HANA Public Cloud

Contract | Inside IR35 | £395 per day | Hybrid (Nottingham)

We are seeking an experienced Lead SAP Finance Consultant to lead the Finance workstream on an SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud implementation. This is a hands-on delivery role, requiring strong configuration experience alongside workstream and stakeholder leadership.

The role will own the end-to-end Finance solution across core processes, ensuring alignment with SAP Best Practices, Public Cloud standards, and programme delivery governance.

Key Responsibilities Solution & Delivery Leadership

• Lead the Finance workstream covering Record to Report, Procure to Pay, Order to Cash, and Asset Accounting
• Own end-to-end Finance solution design aligned to SAP Best Practices and Public Cloud principles
• Lead Fit-to-Standard workshops and drive adoption of standard functionality
• Act as the primary Finance SME and point of escalation

Team Leadership & Governance

• Lead and coordinate SAP Finance consultants within the workstream
• Allocate work, review deliverables, and ensure quality across configuration, documentation, and testing
• Work closely with Programme, Technical, Integration, Data, and Security leads
• Ensure adherence to delivery methodology (eg SAP Activate), governance, and timelines

Stakeholder Engagement

• Engage with senior finance stakeholders, process owners, and business leads
• Provide clear guidance on Public Cloud limitations, extensibility, and integration approaches
• Support change adoption across Finance teams
• Support audit, compliance, and controls discussions where required

Configuration & Implementation

• Configure and oversee SAP S/4HANA Finance including:
  
  • General Ledger (GL)
  • Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Asset Accounting (AA)
  • Bank Accounting, Cash Management, and Financial Close
• Support integration with MM, SD, Projects, and external systems
• Lead testing cycles (Unit, SIT, UAT) and support cutover and go-live activities

Required Experience

• Strong experience as an SAP S/4HANA Finance Consultant, including Lead role experience
• Proven delivery experience on SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud implementations
• Deep functional knowledge of core Finance processes (R2R, P2P, O2C)
• Strong understanding of Fit-to-Standard and SAP Best Practices
• Experience leading workshops with senior stakeholders
• Experience managing teams and workstreams in structured delivery environments
• SAP Activate methodology experience
• Experience using SAP Cloud ALM and/or SAP Solution Manager
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable Experience

• Experience in UK public sector or regulated environments
• Understanding of public sector finance processes, controls, and reporting
• Integration knowledge across SAP modules or third-party systems
• Experience supporting data migration and finance cutover
• Background in consulting or system integration

Logistics

• Contract length: Initial 3 months, with likely extension
• Rate: £395 per day (Inside IR35, PAYE)
• Location: Hybrid working, minimum 2 days per week onsite in Nottingham
• Start: Subject to BPSS clearance
