LOCATION: London Broadcasting House - Hybrid - the Employment Law Team works a minimum of Tuesdays and Wednesdays from the office and then, subject to team needs and work permitting, the remaining time from home.
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £60,600 - £70,000pa plus London Weighting (£5,441pa), depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLEThe BBC is seeking a qualified employment lawyer to join our team of employment lawyers, based in London to complement the experience of the existing team.
Working within the BBC's legal division, you'll be providing advice on a variety of issues. This will include autonomously handling employment litigation cases, and advising on grievances and disciplinaries, redundancy, discrimination and equal pay, whistleblowing and TUPE.

Join our highly skilled Employment Law team, providing expert UK legal advice on employment law across the BBC. The work is challenging and fast moving and you will gain experience of both contentious and non-contentious work.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain a breadth of employment law experience in a supportive environment working aspart of a team. The BBC's employment lawyers are responsible for providing a high quality legal advisory service for senior managers and HR professionals across the BBC and its commercial subsidiaries.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
As a Lawyer, you will:
- provide a high quality legal advisory service for senior managers and HR professionals across the BBC and its commercial subsidiaries
- handle tribunal cases and providing advice on a variety of issues including discrimination, grievances and disciplinaries
- manage large amounts of data and materials
- subject to your seniority, have sole responsibility for matters or tasks, or work with a more senior colleague
- support training and knowledge management activities
- work collaboratively with colleagues in the team and across the BBC
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- A UK-qualified employment lawyer with a current practising certificate and excellent academics.
- Good knowledge of employment law and relevant experience gained within a leading law firm and/or specialist employment team. This will include experience of advising and/or working autonomously on a range of varied and challenging employment legal matters (including employment tribunals).
- Possess excellent analytical, document management, organisational and communication skills, along with the enthusiasm and flexibility for the challenges of this role.
- You'll also be able to work under pressure maintaining excellent attention to detail, successfully prioritise work whilst handling a number of different matters at the same time, and meet deadlines
- Ability to work supportively as a team member and to build and manage relationships at all levels.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- This role would suit NQ to 3 years' Post Qualified Experience (we would also consider junior lawyers with higher PQE)
- Previous experience in the Media industry.
- Previous experience in-house
