Brighton College is seeking to appoint a full time or part time LAMDA Teacher to start in September 2026, hours will be dependent on annual pupil sign ups.
A rare and exciting opportunity to join one of the most thriving drama departments in the country! The new performing arts building opened in the heart of the College, ensuring that drama is at the very core of our future. This wonderful facility consists of a state of the art theatre, drama studio and rehearsal spaces. The department produces an array of productions each year and runs a range of extracurricular drama activities.
The LAMDA Teacher will:- Teach and prepare pupils for LAMDA drama examinations (Acting, Devising, Mime and Verse and Prose).
- Take responsibility for timetabling lessons and organising teaching space.
- Be aware that if pupils are absent, they will forfeit the lesson, and if the teacher or school is responsible for a missed lesson, it should be made up.
- Take responsibility for sourcing material and ensuring that it is appropriate.
- Plan structured lessons that take the LAMDA Syllabus into account.
- Meet with the line manager (Director of Drama) when appropriate.
- Liaise with the LAMDA team regarding examination entries and charges to parents (administration performed by the Co Curricular Administrator).
- Liaise with parents when necessary.
- Write LAMDA reports.
- Plan and deliver high quality, engaging LAMDA lessons.
- Prepare pupils for graded examinations (LAMDA syllabus) and showcases.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying levels of ability and learning needs.
- Encourage creativity, discipline and confidence in all pupils.
- Promote safe and healthy dance practices inline with current standards.
- Respond professionally and promptly to communications (emails, letters and departmental documents).
- Maintain accurate registers and attendance records and schedule lessons weekly based on the restrictions shared by the Visiting Teacher Administrator.
- Provide regular verbal and informal feedback to pupils to support progress.
- Monitor individual pupil development and identify support needs.
- Participate in the annual review process, including lesson observations and feedback collection.
- Use examination results and pupil feedback to inform teaching practice.
