Job Description
Title: Laboratory Manager

Location: Shrewsbury, Shropshire

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + benefits (dependent upon experience)

Term: Permanent

SRG are exclusively partnered with an independent and rapidly expanding manufacturer of speciality chemicals for industrial processes. As a result of their continuing growth, they are now looking to hire an experienced Laboratory Manager to join the team. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to manage multiple laboratory-based projects in a great company who produce sustainable, bio-based products in the sub-surface industry.

Role / Description
  • Managing multiple lab-based projects across R&D, Technical & QC
  • Overseeing the daily running of the lab to ensure high-quality output in line with project timelines
  • Allocating resources (both staff and equipment) across projects
  • Managing a team of 4 Chemists & Technicians, including appraisals and 1-1s
  • Co-ordinating with technical teams globally - specifically in Europe and USA
  • Maintaining laboratory compliance including H&S, COSHH and MSDS
  • Reviewing current laboratory processes to understand improvement areas
  • Liaising with the Sales team to understand market intel.
Requirements
  • Recent, proven experience of managing a lab in a chemical manufacturer (polymers, water treatment, speciality chemicals and inks/coatings/paints sectors will be considered)
  • Recent, proven experience managing a team of Chemists
  • Degree-level qualified (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Polymer Science or similar
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and project management skills
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • A desire to make a difference and disrupt the chemicals industry.
