Job summaryAn outstanding individual is sought to fulfil the role of Training Programme Director for Gastro-enterology for KSS.
This is a 1PA Training Programme Director vacancy.
The role of Training Programme Director is to work with and support the Head of School in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions, aligned to the NHSEngland mandate.
The Training Programme Director is professionally and managerial accountable to the Head of School. The role focuses on improving learner supervision, assessment, and experience, engaging faculty, and ensuring effective educational outcomes. The role is evolving to include workforce transformation and developing multi-professional links.
To support the Postgraduate Dean, Training Programme Directors work across health and social care sectors within a team, reflecting changing service models to deliver an integrated workforce from diverse professional backgrounds.
Main duties of the jobThe Programme Director will ensure compliance with national standards and local guidelines. Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the Gastro-enterology Regional Training Programme
- Addressing specialty-specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns
- Recruitment to training posts and programmes
- Managing postgraduate programmes, including assessments, progression, rotations, support, remediation, OOP management, career support, less than full-time training, inter-deanery transfer, and academic training
The ideal candidate will be an experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of Gastro-enterology training across the region, possessing strong leadership and communication skills, and able to work effectively within a multi-professional team.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Person Specification Qualifications- Fellowship of College / Faculty, professional association, or body

Depending on experience, remuneration will be in line with TPD sessional payments.
