The Food Sharing Project has recently opened a food production kitchen at Regiopolis-Notre Dame Catholic High School, where we prepare and serve lunches for students at the high school, as well as provide meals to students in local elementary schools.We are currently looking for volunteers to support with the preparation and packaging of meals for school deliveries.This volunteer role takes place Tuesday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the high school cafeteria kitchen.

Volunteers are expected to be available once per week, Tuesday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. While start and end times can be somewhat flexible, we are looking for consistent weekly support from volunteers who are able to commit to being present most weeks.
Required QualificationsVolunteers are required to complete a short onboarding process with us, which includes a brief interview, a safe food handling course (provided by us), and basic worker health and safety training.No previous experience is required to volunteer, and kitchen experience is not necessary. However, any prior experience working with youth is considered a great asset.
Position ResponsibilitiesVolunteers will support the preparation of nutritious, free meals for high school and elementary school students. This includes tasks such as slicing fruit, preparing sauces, and portioning and packaging meals for distribution.Prior to beginning, volunteers are required to complete a basic food handling course (provided by us), along with a short orientation process specific to working in a school kitchen setting. Volunteers must also obtain and maintain a clear vulnerable sector background check for the duration of their involvement.
Volunteers have the opportunity to work alongside like-minded individuals who are passionate about supporting the community and improving food access for students. This role also offers hands-on experience in a professional kitchen environment, helping volunteers develop and strengthen their food preparation and cooking skills.Most importantly, volunteers play a direct role in supporting students and youth in our community by helping to provide nutritious meals that contribute to improved focus, readiness to learn, and overall engagement in school. Through this work, volunteers make a meaningful impact on student wellbeing while being part of a supportive and purpose-driven team.
