Kitchen Assistant

Pay rates ranging from £11.90 to £13.25 per hour depending on your age and great benefits. Part time position available at 22.5 hours per week, with a degree of flexibility required; Saturday and Sunday shifts will be essential.

Location: EUROSPAR Rathgael Road - 102 Rathgael Road, Bangor, Down, BT19 1RS.

A look into the role

Working within a fast paced kitchen, the Kitchen Assistant will assist with movement, storage, rotation of goods, packing freshly cooked products, labeling, stock control, chef assistance, cleaning, and other duties as required.

Responsibilities

• Receive goods in ensuring all legislative requirements, quality specification and shelf life are adhered to.
• Ensure effective stock rotation practices are in place to use older products first and reduce wastage.
• Assist Chef & Cook in the preparation of ingredients as required.
• Assist with stock control procedures and ordering.
• Perform kitchen porter duties including cleaning and maintaining machines and production areas.
• Ensure packaging and other items are stored correctly.
• Accurately record any damages or wastage.
• Prepare, clean, adjust and maintain printing equipment, ensuring accurate information is printed on labels in line with regulations.
• Ensure enough labels are printed to cover the production planned for the day.
• Work across all areas of the department when needed, including deli and bakery.
• Other duties as required.

Skills for Success

• A flair and enthusiasm for cooking with fresh quality ingredients.
• Ability to deliver at pace while ensuring the highest quality of food.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office.
• Experience working in a fresh food production kitchen (desirable).
• Previous supervisory experience (desirable).
• Experience working to budgets and/or targets (desirable).

Working Hours

Part time 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday, 5:00 am to 9:00 pm with required flexibility, including Saturday and Sunday shifts.
