Kitchen Assistant - Bank

Main duties of the job

As a Kitchen Assistant - Bank at Elton House Care Home in Watford, you will support the catering function by assisting in food preparation and maintaining a clean environment for safe production of beverages and meals. You will uphold high standards of hygiene, contribute to effective teamwork, respond promptly to instructions and advise on the supply and quality of items required to carry out tasks.

Job responsibilities

Shift details: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM and 11:30 PM - 7:30 PM.

Your focus as Kitchen Assistant is to support the catering function in food preparation, maintain a clean environment, and deliver high quality service to residents.

• Understand the principles of safe food handling to ensure all food preparations meet the highest standards of hygiene.
• Contribute fully to teamwork, responding positively to colleagues and acting on all reasonable work instructions promptly.
• Advise on the supply and quality of items used for tasks, ensuring timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods.
• Act with respect toward residents and their visitors, honoring the dignity and individuality of each resident.

Qualifications

• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate with high standards of personal hygiene.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, including Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
• Efficient worker capable of sustained physical effort and handling a demanding workload.
• Initiative, flexibility and a positive attitude toward teamwork.
• Caring and understanding attitude toward residents.

Requirements

• DBS Disclosure check - the cost will be met by Avery Healthcare.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
