Job Description

A supportive and forward-thinking primary school in Gateshead is looking for a confident and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 Teacher to join their teaching team and help pupils develop the knowledge, confidence, and independence they need before moving into secondary education.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a school where learning is valued, staff are supported, and pupils are encouraged to explore new ideas and challenge themselves.

The role is term time only, working 8.30am to 3.30pm, supporting pupils within Key Stage 2.

The Role

As a KS2 Teacher, you will play an important role in helping pupils build strong academic foundations while encouraging them to become confident and independent learners.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Delivering engaging and structured lessons across the Key Stage 2 curriculum
  • Supporting pupils as they develop strong literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving skills
  • Encouraging curiosity, participation, and discussion in the classroom
  • Monitoring pupil progress and adapting teaching strategies where needed
  • Preparing pupils for assessments and SATs in a supportive and encouraging way
  • Working closely with teaching assistants and other members of staff

The school is looking for a teacher who can create a positive, structured, and inspiring learning environment where pupils feel motivated to achieve their best.

A Positive Teaching Environment

The school prides itself on maintaining a supportive and collaborative staff culture where teachers feel confident sharing ideas and supporting one another.

Teachers are encouraged to work together on planning, share resources, and build engaging lessons that help pupils stay motivated and involved in their learning.

The leadership team is approachable and supportive, ensuring teachers feel valued and able to focus on delivering high-quality lessons.

Opportunities for Progression

Many teachers who begin roles like this go on to secure long-term or permanent teaching positions once they've built strong relationships with the school.

Schools often prefer to recruit teachers they have already seen working successfully in their classrooms, making this role a great opportunity to showcase your teaching skills and become part of the school community.

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience teaching within Key Stage 2 classrooms
  • Are confident managing a classroom environment
  • Are passionate about helping pupils achieve their full potential
