ABOUT US

University Arms is a 192 bedroom design led Hotel situated in the heart of Cambridge, United Kingdom. Overlooking Parker's Piece is the Hotel's quintessentially British Restaurant and Bar Parker's Tavern, Library Lounge, and beautiful 272 square metre wood panelled Ballroom.

Opened in 1834 as a Coaching Inn, University Arms is Cambridge's oldest Hotel. For 180 years, the Hotel was added to, updated, and modernised in line with the age; however, it was the reopening in 2018 after a four year £80 m full renovation that really positioned the Hotel. It is now Cambridge's 'go to' destination, alluring visitors with the promise of a sense of modern luxury.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING

As a Junior Sous Chef Events & Restaurant, you'll work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to deliver exceptional food in the restaurant/bar and a variety of events, from private dining to large scale functions.

THE DUTIES

• Support the day to day running of the kitchen across the restaurant and events
• Lead and motivate junior team members during service
• Ensure consistent delivery of high quality dishes
• Assist in menu development, particularly event offerings
• Maintain excellent food hygiene and health & safety standards
• Manage stock control, ordering, and minimise waste
• Step up to lead service in the absence of the Sous/Head Chef

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN YOU

• Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef in a busy kitchen
• Experience in both restaurant service and events/catering (preferred)
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• A positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards
• Good understanding of food safety and kitchen compliance
• Flexible to work varied shifts, including weekends and evenings
