Junior Quantity Surveyor

Our client is seeking a motivated and eagerJunior Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate looking to develop their career in quantity surveying within the road maintenance sector, with a strong focus on bituminous and tar surfacing works. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive on-the-job training and mentoring from experienced QS professionals, gaining a solid foundation in commercial management, procurement, and framework contract procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the QS team in managing the financial and contractual aspects of road maintenance projects

• Support the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation

• Help oversee procurement activities and ensure supplier and subcontractor compliance

• Maintain accurate records of suppliers and subcontractors

• Participate in tendering and quoting processes under supervision

• Monitor project costs and assist with preparation of progress and cost reports

• Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to support timely project delivery

• Learn to identify and assess commercial risks under guidance

• Ensure compliance with EHSQ standards and company policies

• Assist with pre-submission quality and compliance checks

• Provide support to invoicing teams by preparing accurate commercial data

• Participate in market analysis and post-tender reviews to improve pricing strategies

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the QS team

Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline (degree, diploma, or equivalent)

• A keen interest in road maintenance and civil engineering projects, particularly bituminous and tar surfacing works

• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail

• Good communication and teamwork abilities

• Willingness to learn and develop commercially focused skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

• Previous experience or internships in quantity surveying or construction is advantageous
