This role has been created as a learning role at a junior level. As the role progresses the purpose of the role will be to oversee the Technical requirements across both Newcastle plants; support the Production team, the Quality team & the Senior Technical Process Engineer in day to day operations. Specific emphasis is placed on technical aspects involved with the production of wire rope products, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Role: Junior Process Engineer
Salary: £32,000 - £33,000 Depending upon the interview and experience.
Roles and Responsibilities- Principal accountabilities shall include but not be limited to:
- Ensure that the Newcastle plants meet both internal and external customer expectations by establishing and maintaining a right first time manufacturing process and culture.
- Work with the Senior Technical Process Engineer ensuring Technical aspects are completed across the Newcastle plants.
- Aid the Senior Technical Process Engineer in investigating internal failures/issues and aid in recommending corrective action, where appropriate working with teams.
- Work with Production team on the capacity of the sites and establish what the constraints are and how you can work together to eliminate the constraints.
- Coordinate the flow of Red Alert orders to ensure all special requirements are met and recorded with reports/feedback supplied.
- Carrying out daily audits on a variety of manufacturing topics to ensure good techniques are being used.
- Problem solving and analysis - understand the real problem; perform Root Cause Analysis, utilizing extensive rope knowledge and owning action closure with relevant departments.
- Assist the Senior Technical Process Engineer in customer complaints investigations.
- Working closely with the Senior Technical Process Engineer, maintain an effective CI programme targeting improved quality and support improvements in efficiencies by standardisation and waste elimination.
- Assist the Senior Technical Process Engineer in the acceptance of new rope designs, undertaking a technical review to ensure plants are capable of manufacturing product.
- Review all orders for Newcastle plants, capture any technical information and ensure that this is embedded into the works documentation.
- Work towards undertaking technical review of all works documentation, to ensure that all design features of the product are captured fully in works documentation.
- Work towards a zero accident culture by ensuring the effective enforcement of the company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
- From time to time may be required to work at other Bridon sites.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Ideal but not essential NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Ideal but not essential IOSH managing safely / Business improvement/lean manufacturing training courses.
- Ideal but not essential Full drivers license.
- Ideal but not essential experience of MS Office packages & other IT software.
- Ideal but not essential experience of presentations to peers & Supervisors.
- Experience of working within lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Experience of engaging communication within a team.
- Experience of managing within strict H&S & Quality parameters & KPIs.
