Overview

A Leader in perimeter security equipment requires a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in West Sussex.

The company designs, manufactures and installs perimeter security products, including products for high security applications, all over the UK and the rest of the world. A market leader in a highly competitive industry, Frontier Pitts are constantly pushing to deliver the most challenging projects that other companies cannot, and all delivered to the highest standard.

The role involves utilising AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor to produce quality mechanical designs within time and budget constraints. You will use knowledge of drawing standards, materials, structures, and how to design for manufacturing processes. You will ensure the soundness of your designs of welded steel structures by performing FEA analyses and validating the results with hand calculations.

Working for a relatively small company, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to see through design projects from start to finish and will enjoy a large amount of responsibility. They will be able to liaise with engineers of various disciplines and develop their skills and knowledge from working hands on in a manufacturing environment.

Skills/Qualifications Essential

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
• Excellent computer literacy, using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, MS Excel
• Proficiency in both static and dynamic mechanical calculations performed on steel structures
• Knowledge of the engineering design process and working to BSI ISO 9001
• An ability to think commercially as well as technically
• Ability to learn quicklyGood eye for detail
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Authorised to work in the United Kingdom

Non Essential

• Skills in computer programming, in particular Visual Basic.
• Experience fabricating metal structures, such as welding, drilling etc. and participation in engineering related hobbies

• Working Hours: 08:30 - 17:00
• Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 dependant on experience
