The role provides a broad foundation across general IT infrastructure, working with a wide range of technologies, including bespoke applications and predominantly Microsoft-based solutions (eg, Azure Entra, VMware).

You'll play a key role in delivering first-line support, maintaining IT systems, and ensuring reliable computing and networking capabilities for users across the business. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop technical skills, and grow within a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for IT support queries via the helpdesk system, phone, and in-person.
  • Manage and triage tickets in the IT support system, escalating to higher levels when necessary.
  • Provide technical support to end users across the business.
  • Assist with equipment setup, configuration, and documentation of IT assets.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and functional IT workspace.
  • Travel to other company sites when required to deliver on-site support (a valid driving licence is essential)
  • Conduct proactive maintenance on support systems and infrastructure.
  • Support Level 2 and 3 tasks under supervision when skills and knowledge allow.
  • Collaborate with the Infrastructure and wider IT team on projects and daily tasks.
  • Complete other IT-related duties as assigned by the Head of IT or Infrastructure Team Leader

Core Competencies & Behaviors

  • Proactive, "can-do" attitude with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Good verbal, written, telephone, and email etiquette.
  • Effective time management and ability to prioritise tasks based on business needs.
  • Demonstrates initiative in problem-solving and asking relevant questions.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Willingness to escalate issues appropriately and use team knowledge effectively.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Familiarity with Microsoft technologies and Windows environments
  • Basic understanding of networking, hardware, and software troubleshooting
  • Exposure to virtualisation platforms such as VMware is advantageous.
  • An understanding of IT asset management and documentation best practices

Requirements

  • Recent college or university graduate (or equivalent qualification/experience)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential due to travel requirements)
  • Strong interest in developing a career within IT infrastructure.
  • Willingness to work fully onsite in Bugbrooke, Northampton
