Fallow Restaurant Group is looking for a talented Junior Editorial Chef to assist on the planning and delivery of the rapidly growing publishing arm of the Fallow Group, with Substack as the core focus. Having launched at the end of February of this year, The Fallow Chefs Substack is one of the fastest growing Substack publications in recent years, with close to 10,000 subscribers in just over 2 months.
We're looking for someone who is a proficient cook (ideally with professional restaurant experience) and excellent written communicator (ideally with experience in food writing) to undertake the management and delivery of the Substack content, reporting in to the Editorial Chef.
Each Substack post will require the individual to manage and interview key stakeholders and deliver articles (c.1,500 words) centred around Jack and Will's background and journey plus in depth food science and technique. They'll also need to rework and test recipes (including taking process photographs) to make them relevant for a domestic context.
Key responsibilities- Build out the pipeline of content for Fallow Chefs Substack.
- Research each topic both from a Fallow/Jack/Will history point of view and from a food science point of view.
- Manage budgets and ordering for all recipe testing.
- Test and rework relevant recipes to ensure they are relevant for a domestic context.
- Ensuring all content is delivered on a strict timeline and to brand standards.
- Oversee the full Substack subscriber experience including fleshing out the Fallow Chefs profile, updating notes and engaging with the chat.
- Work in conjunction with other internal teams including chefs and social content creators to manage Substack promotion.
- Proven experience as a highly competent cook.
- Proven experience as an excellent written communicator.
- The ability to adopt a written tone other than your own.
- Excellent organisational and scheduling skills.
- The ability to adapt based on the needs of a fast paced restaurant environment.

- Experience adapting recipes and a strong demonstration of food science and technique understanding.
