Junior Design Engineer - Building Services

A great opportunity for a junior design engineer to join an expanding building services based company, specialising in building safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in creating system layout drawings and design documents using CAD software.
• Support senior engineers in producing calculations, schematics, and technical designs.
• Help prepare technical documentation, equipment schedules, and O&M information.
• Undertake site surveys and support feasibility assessments when required.
• Communicate with internal teams, clients, and contractors to resolve basic design queries.
• Ensure all work is accurate, compliant, and delivered to required standards.
• Learn and develop knowledge of fire suppression system design, industry regulations, and best practices.

Skills & Experience Required

• Some experience in M&E, building services, general construction, or related engineering environments.
• Basic to intermediate experience using CAD software (AutoCAD or similar).
• Ability to read or interpret drawings is beneficial.
• Strong willingness to learn technical concepts such as hydraulic systems, compliance standards, and engineering principles.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.
• Problem-solving mindset with enthusiasm for developing a career in engineering design.

• Understanding of mechanical or electrical building systems.
• Exposure to fire protection systems or building compliance (advantageous but not required).
• Engineering-related qualifications (e.g., BTEC, HNC/HND, or degree).
