Job Description
Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity that is ideally suited to a senior SHO or junior registrar level trainee who wants to gain more clinical experience with a chance to develop research and quality improvement skills. The role is a replacement post with the previous five fellows having all successfully moved on to national training posts. Salisbury Urology department includes 8 consultants, 6 resident doctors, 3 FY1 doctors and 7 urology specialist nurses. In addition to general urology the department undertakes robotic surgery, tertiary female and reconstructive surgery, HoLEP and complex stone surgery (PCNL). The Duke of Cornwall Spinal Injury Centre is based in Salisbury Hospital and covers the south and southwest of England with an 11 million patient catchment. Working alongside neuro urology consultants, you will provide urological assessment and care for spinal injury patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 teaching to outpatients, video urodynamics, theatres and endoscopy.
  • Work alongside neuro urology consultants to deliver urological assessment and care for spinal injury patients.
  • Contribute to the urology on call rota at a middle grade level (participating in the on call rota one in 5 or 6 weeks). Current out of hours commitments include one Saturday 24 hour on call every 5 weeks, with no other night or evening on calls.
  • Participate in research and quality improvement initiatives in urology.
Qualifications
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
  • MRCS qualification.
  • Relevant NHS experience in urology (no clinical attachments).
  • Evidence of wide experience and a high level of competence in urology.
  • Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems.
  • Knowledge and application of up to date evidence based practice.
Experience & Skills
  • Experience in both general and complex urology procedures (e.g. robotic surgery, HoLEP, PCNL).
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and to motivate and develop staff.

Salary

£54,499 to £67,325 per annum (pro rata if part time).
