The Emergency Department at the Leicester Royal Infirmary is one of the busiest in the UK with good standards of care and performance. Our aim is to be one of the best acute and emergency service providers in the UK over the next five years.
We're looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our fast-paced and energetic team.
To work as one team providing a safe, modern, efficient and effective Emergency Medicine service to the Leicester Royal Infirmary, University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) NHS Trust; and to deliver the highest quality of emergency care to the population of Leicester and the surrounding county (catchment population around 1 million).
Main duties of the jobThe responsibilities of the post are similar to that of the FY2, ST1 and ST2 training grade doctors. The main duties and responsibilities of this post are to;
- Carry out initial assessments, investigations and manage patients in the Emergency Department
- Have flexibility to work in all areas of the department including resus, majors, injuries and paediatrics.
- Be responsible for arranging admissions and discharge of patients in Emergency Department
- Ensure a safe a high standard of care for all our patients
- Assist with achieving the DOH Clinical Quality Indicators for Urgency and Emergency Care

About the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust:
Job responsibilitiesThe responsibilities of the post are similar to that of the FY2, ST1 and ST2 training grade doctors. The main duties and responsibilities of this post are to;

- Have flexibility to work in all areas of the department including resus, majors, injuries and paediatrics.
- Be responsible for arranging admissions and discharge of patients in Emergency Department
- Ensure a safe a high standard of care for all our patients
- Assist with achieving the DOH Clinical Quality Indicators for Urgency and Emergency Care
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- ALS/ATLS Certificate
- Interest in pursuing a career in Emergency Medicine
- Evidence of working in an Emergency Department
- Minimum of 1 year experience
- NHS experience
- Previous experience of acute care and relevant practical skills
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary clinical team
- Able to manage workload under pressure
- An understanding of research and evidence based practice in all
- An understanding of the principles of audit
- Regular participation in the departmental Rota
- Ability to manage applicants own time and work effectively, understanding of role.
- Possessing a high degree of motivation and personal self-discipline.
