Job Description
What we're up to at Untold

We are a creative community - a team of world class talent, visionary clients, and an exciting future ahead. As a studio, our people and culture are at the core of everything we do. Our purpose is simple: to create outstanding content that captivates audiences, while enjoying every step of the journey.

The Role

As a CFX Artist at Untold Studios, you will be learning how to create a broad range of effects that work well with stylised CG and photorealistic characters/creatures. You have an excellent eye for detail and are passionate about working across a variety of projects spanning advertising, long form and real time. You create effects that look believable and are consistent with the overall look and feel of every individual project.

You are highly motivated, solutions driven and can prototype ideas quickly and efficiently. You love analysing and solving problems. You have great ideas and want to share them. We are committed to supporting you and your ongoing development. We will work closely with you to establish a personal progression plan. You are never on your own.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Producing a wide variety of effects in Houdini, including but not limited to muscles/skin, cloth, hair and fur.
  • Balancing the desired level of aesthetic quality with technical accuracy, often exploring different approaches in order to interpret complex creative briefs to deliver outstanding effects.
  • Understanding and experience working with Vellum.
  • Working with sculpt tools to include additional detail and cleanup to finalise simulation work.
  • Working alongside other departments to ensure that shots are delivered to the highest possible standard.
  • Communicating your thoughts and ideas clearly in a professional and positive manner.
  • Managing time efficiently through multitasking and prioritising tasks.
  • Interpreting direction and addressing constructive feedback to improve shots.
  • Proactively sharing ideas with peers and the team.
  • An understanding of Python and/or VEX is desirable as is any experience using PDG.
