Java Full Stack Engineer - Consultant/Senior Consultant
Location: UK (Hybrid Remote with client site travel)

Salary: £45,000 - £75,000 + Benefits

We're supporting a leading digital consultancy in hiring Java Full Stack Engineers who want to use technology to improve outcomes for UK public sector organisations. You'll work closely with clients, engineers and delivery teams to build modern, scalable services that make a real difference to citizens and frontline staff.

The Role

As part of a multi-disciplinary agile team, you'll design and build full-stack solutions across major public sector transformation programmes. You'll contribute to high-impact digital services using modern engineering practices, cloud technologies and CI/CD pipelines.

What You'll Be Doing

• Building robust Java/Spring Boot microservices
• Developing modern Front End applications with React, TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML & CSS
• Designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins) - essential
• Using Docker and containerised approaches
• Delivering cloud-native solutions on AWS or Azure
• Working directly with public sector stakeholders to shape successful outcomes
• Collaborating with agile teams across engineering, design, data and product

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Strong experience building Java microservices with Spring Boot
• Front End experience with React and TypeScript/JavaScript
• Hands-on CI/CD pipeline delivery
• Git and modern version control workflows
• Docker/Docker Compose
• Experience working in agile, collaborative environments
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Desirable

• Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools
• NoSQL (MongoDB) or SQL databases such as Postgres
• Experience working with GOV.UK standards or in the UK public sector
• Exposure to Node.js, Kotlin or C#
• Experience integrating solutions with LLMs (LangChain, Vercel AI, etc.)
