Java Developer

Java Developer | Glasgow (hybrid) | 12-month Contract

Global investment bank is looking for an experienced Java Developer to join their Products IT Team in Glasgow. This Front Office role supports the global equity swaps business, working on a project to modernise the current trading platform.

You will collaborate with a global team to build robust, scalable systems that solve complex problems at the intersectionof finance and technology.

Previous banking experience is beneficial but not essential.

Java Developer Key Skills & Experience:

• Strong Java (J2SE), Spring, JUnit, and JMS
• Proficient in SQL and experience with Sybase or DB2
• Unix/Linux Scripting and some Perl knowledge
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Understanding of message-based architectures and object-oriented design
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Interest in learning the equity derivatives business

Desirable:

• Experience with database performance tuning
• Familiarity with equity derivative products
• Exposure to agile development environments

This is a 12-month contract offering hybrid working and a competitive day rate around £500 (inside ir35).
