Job Title: Java/AWS Developer
Clearance Level: Enhanced Security Clearance (SC)
Location: Hybrid - 4 days a week onsite in London
Contract Type: Contract (Inside IR35)
Duration: 6-12 months (extendable)
We are seeking an experienced Java Developer with AWS exposure, preferably full stack, to support large-scale digital transformation and Legacy modernisation programmes across UK central government. You will join a multidisciplinary agile team modernising critical Legacy platforms using cloud-native patterns and a transitional stack (Java 6/8, Oracle DB, Ant/XML) into Spring Boot microservices deployed in AWS.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance Back End Java applications within modernisation or migration programmes.
- Transition Legacy services built in Java 6/8, Ant, and XML toward Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs.
- Integrate with AWS services (Lambda, S3, EC2, RDS) to support hybrid and cloud-native architectures.
- Write and maintain performant and secure code, following government digital standards (eg GDS, WCAG AA).
- Collaborate with DevOps engineers to build and support CI/CD pipelines using Git and container tooling.
- Engage in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, retrospectives), contributing to continuous improvement.
- Conduct unit, integration, and system testing, ensuring solutions are production-ready and secure.
