Head of IT - Sligo

I have an immediate requirement for a Head of IT based in Sligo to lead the organisation's technology function, driving IT strategy, operational excellence, and key transformation initiatives.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience across enterprise IT, with a proven track record in delivering ERP programmes, cybersecurity initiatives, and (desirably) exposure to Operational Technology (OT) environments.

Job Description

• Define and execute the organisation's IT strategy, aligning technology capabilities with business objectives and growth plans
• Lead the IT function across infrastructure, applications, service delivery, and end-user computing, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability
• Own and deliver enterprise-wide ERP programmes (implementation, upgrade, or optimisation), ensuring strong business alignment and successful adoption
• Lead cybersecurity strategy and execution, ensuring robust protection across systems, data, and infrastructure in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Drive continuous improvement in IT operations, governance, service management, and vendor performance
• Manage IT budgets, third-party vendors, and strategic technology partners
• Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable and secure technology solutions
• Oversee risk management, compliance, and audit readiness across IT systems and processes

Key Responsibilities

• Lead business and technical transformation initiatives across IT, ERP, and security domains
• Define and document technology roadmaps, architectures, and investment priorities
• Ensure secure and effective integration of enterprise systems and platforms
• Conduct impact assessments, system evaluations, and gap analyses across IT landscape
• Establish strong governance, controls, and reporting frameworks across IT operations
• Support business continuity, disaster recovery, and resilience planning

Operational Technology (OT) - Desirable

• Work across IT and OT environments where applicable, supporting integration and alignment
• Contribute to secure IT/OT convergence, particularly in industrial or operational settings
• Support OT-related infrastructure, systems, and cybersecurity initiatives

Stakeholder & Delivery Focus

• Act as a key liaison between business leadership and technology teams
• Ensure clear communication, alignment, and successful delivery of strategic initiatives
• Enable effective collaboration across architecture, security, and delivery teams

Experience Required

• Proven experience in a Head of IT / IT Director / IT Manager / senior leadership role
• Strong track record delivering ERP programmes end-to-end
• Demonstrated experience leading cybersecurity and risk initiatives
• Experience managing enterprise IT operations and service delivery
• Exposure to OT environments (manufacturing, utilities, regulated industries) is advantageous
• Strong understanding of IT governance, architecture, and compliance frameworks

Additional Requirements

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on when required
• Experience working in complex, fast-paced environments with multiple concurrent programmes
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and modern enterprise architectures preferred
