IT Service Desk Engineer
East Grinstead, West Sussex

This IT Service Desk Engineer role is on an exclusive basis for a tier 1 client in East Grinstead, West Sussex. It is an on-site role (5 days per week) with on-site and remote support responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to a variety of users in a timely and professional manner.
  • Record information accurately, fault-find, troubleshoot, and liaise with 3rd party providers as needed.
  • Handle incoming support requests and log all calls on the Service Desk ticketing system; maintain documentation.
  • Deliver remote and onsite support of customers' IT systems.
  • Design, install, and configure new equipment and systems.
  • Communicate with customers to keep them informed of incident progress; escalate internally or to third parties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an IT Service Desk role.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows client systems, Exchange, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory; DNS, DHCP, and related technologies.
  • Experience with Intune configuration and management; Microsoft Azure environment and systems.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., Hyper-V); networking knowledge (switches, routers, VLANs, wireless).
  • Proficiency in Active Directory/Group Policy; understanding of SharePoint; knowledge of scripting tools (PowerShell).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, fault-finding, and customer service skills; strong telephone manner.
  • Experience with logging and documenting IT configurations and standard builds; ability to mentor and assist team members.
  • Experience with incident-related security practices (firewalls, 365, etc.).
  • Desirable: MSP background.
