IT Operations Manager

Contract type: Permanent

Location: RCN Cardiff Gate with hybrid working (40%)

35 hours per week, Tenure: Permanent, Salary range per annum £69,051 - £77,910

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) is a trade union with a membership of over half a million nurses, midwives, nursing support workers, and students. We support their practice, represent them, lobby on their behalf, and develop them.

As the IT Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with the Head of IT Operations, IT Service Delivery Manager, and holding line management responsibility for the 3rd Line Engineer, 2nd Line IT Operations Engineers
  • Delivering excellent second and third line technical support and a first-class frontline service to our customers
  • Supporting and maintaining the Network and Communications and Security systems to the RCN, including Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks, Telecommunications, Firewalls, and other associated technologies
  • Assisting the Head of IT Operations with IT projects and upgrades and enhancements to existing systems
  • Acting as an overall design authority for IT Infrastructure and providing expert subject advice to the RCN on all matters of IT Infrastructure

  • Infrastructure and network skills with technical knowledge of IT systems and a background in a relevant area such as Cisco network infrastructure technologies
  • Experience of managing a technical team and a real customer focus in all you do
