The BSZ provides IT-supported services for academic libraries, museums and archives, particularly in Baden-Württemberg, Saxony and Saarland.

For the project "AI-supported mapping and generation of subject and formal indexing = indexing booster (KISEFEE)" funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg, the BSZ is looking for a person for IT coordination and development in the area of conception, development, evaluation and integration of AI-based procedures for automated subject and formal indexing in the library network system K10plus. The Communication, Information and Media Center (KIM) at the University of Konstanz is leading the project in cooperation with the BSZ and with the participation of the Württemberg State Library Stuttgart, the University Library Stuttgart and the library of the HTWG Konstanz.

You will work in a dedicated team and in close coordination with the head of department.

Areas of responsibility

Your tasks

  • Conception of AI procedures and evaluation of AI models - especially for formal indexing
  • Development and optimization of workflows for automated metadata enrichment, duplicate cleansing and inventory reconciliation
  • Development and maintenance of data flows, interfaces and mappings between K10plus, DA-3, OPUS and other systems
  • Integration, testing and quality assurance of AI procedures in federated and test systems
  • Documentation, presentation and knowledge transfer of project results, including participation in workshops and specialist conferences
Requirements profile

Your profile

  • Completed scientific university degree in computer science, data science or comparable
  • Experience with AI methods, text analysis or machine learning
  • Familiarity with interfaces, data flows and automation processes
  • Programming skills (e.g. Python, SQL)
  • Knowledge of metadata standards and norm data (e.g. MARC, RDA, GND, RVK) desirable
  • Analytical and structured way of working
  • Independence, ability to work in a team and strong communication skills
