Description About us

We are Digital Science and we are advancing the research ecosystem. We are a pioneering technology company, and our vision is of a future where a trusted and collaborative research ecosystem drives progress for all. We believe in better, open, collaborative and inclusive research. In creating the next generation of tools and working in partnership with the community we tackle some of the biggest challenges to research. In order to achieve our vision, we need innovative, inspiring and dynamic people to join our team.

Your new role

We are looking for a Junior Internal Communications Executive who is eager to learn, gets a buzz from good writing, and genuinely cares about how a company talks to its people. This is a hands on role where you will help keep our employees informed, engaged and connected - from drafting a weekly newsletter to helping coordinate a company wide all hands. A background in tech is helpful but not required. What matters most is that you are enthusiastic, proactive and have a feel for clear, human communication. You will be supported by an experienced comms team and given real responsibility from day one.

Please be aware that we may close this position early if we receive a high volume of applications, so we encourage you to apply promptly.

What you'll be doing Content & Channels
  • Draft, edit and publish internal communications across multiple channels, including email newsletters, intranet posts and Slack announcements.
  • Help maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent and timely communications across the organisation.
  • Contribute ideas for improving how we communicate with employees at all levels.
  • Support the production of visual assets such as banners, slides and simple graphics, working with design templates.
Events & Campaigns
  • Assist in the planning and logistics of internal events such as all hands meetings, town halls and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Help coordinate communications around company campaigns, product launches and people related announcements.
  • Track engagement and gather feedback after communications and events to help the team improve over time.
Day-to-Day Support
  • Manage inbound requests from teams who need communications support, helping to triage and prioritise workload.
  • Keep internal resources and documentation up to date, including intranet pages and comms toolkits.
  • Learn how to handle sensitive communications with care and discretion.
  • Support company wide activities such as all company announcements and All Hands decks.
What you'll bring to the role Experience & Background
  • 1 2 years' experience in a communications, marketing, content or related role.
  • Some exposure to an internal or employee communications context is a bonus but not essential.
  • Comfortable working in a fast moving environment, ideally a tech company or similar.
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong writing skills - you take care over words and know that tone matters.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for communication and for understanding what makes people tick.
  • Organised and dependable; able to keep track of multiple tasks and meet deadlines without being chased.
  • Comfortable using digital tools such as email platforms, intranets or project management software (training provided), and working with AI.
  • Hungry to learn, open to feedback and keen to grow quickly.
  • A positive, can do attitude and the confidence to suggest ideas even early on and work closely with those senior to you.

Don't worry if you don't meet every qualification-let us be the judge! Studies show that many qualified candidates from under represented groups hesitate to apply unless they meet every single requirement. We are dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive team and strongly encourage you to submit your application.

As an equal opportunity employer, we are committed to building and nurturing a workplace where every individual feels valued and belongs. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, colour, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran, or disability status. Beyond recruitment, we strive to cultivate an environment where inclusivity is woven into the fabric of our culture, enabling everyone to be their best self and do their best work.
