Job Description
Opportunity

Based within the Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) Service at the Hospital for Small Animals at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, this internship offers a launchpad for those pursuing clinical training in ECC or private practice.

The ECC intern will gain extensive clinical experience in managing critically ill patients while working alongside board certified specialists. The role involves a combination of days, evenings, nights and weekends in a well equipped Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Room. Interns are paired with a mentor to pursue a research project and receive guidance on career progression. The internship includes weekly seminars, practical sessions and journal clubs.

Since its inception, 80% of interns have progressed to ECC residency and 65% of those are now ECC specialists.

Job Details
  • Fixed term for 19 months
  • Full time - 35 hours per week (plus additional out of hours rota contributions)
  • Salary: £34,610.00 - £39,906.00 per annum
Responsibilities

The ECC intern will provide clinical care to critically ill patients, support senior veterinary staff, and engage in research and educational activities within the unit.

Qualifications
  • Experience of emergency practice and/or rotating internship
  • Member of RCVS or eligible at time of appointment
  • Appropriate English language qualification
  • Right to work in the UK (certified)
  • Eligibility for Skilled Worker Sponsorship under the New Entrant Route (within 4 years)
