Job Description
Purpose of Job

Join the Climate Risk team and contribute to the EBRD's mission to address climate-related challenges. As an intern, you'll be a valued member of the team, supporting the delivery of our climate risk procedures and methodologies. Your work will be instrumental in ensuring the quality and impact of our objectives.

You'll also expected to engage across a broad range of Climate Risk initiatives, gaining exposure to strategic projects and cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment.

This is a 6-month internship with the Climate Risk team, offering hands-on experience on how the EBRD assesses and manages climate-related financial risks.
  • Support climate risk assessments: Contribute to identifying and evaluating climate-related financial risks.
  • Work with data that matters: Help track, analyse, and organise climate risk data-supporting the team's efforts to build a robust understanding of emerging risks.
  • Gain hands-on experience: Focus on data-intensive and operational tasks that offer valuable insight into how the Climate Risk team functions within the EBRD.

Contribute across activities: Get involved in across the breadth of the team's activities, presentation preparation, documentation, meeting participation (including minute-taking), and general administrative support.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Work under the supervision of a Climate Risk team member and assist with assigned activities. Key responsibilities include:
  • Manage and collect climate-related data from internal and external sources, ensuring it is organised, traceable, and ready for use in scenario analysis and other risk management tools.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and compliance with audit standards by reviewing processes and reproducing results under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Consolidate information from multiple sources into clear, consistent formats to support reporting and analysis.
  • Support stress testing activities, including the evaluation of sustainability data platforms and testing of data providers to inform strategic decisions on data usage.
  • Prepare initial drafts and presentations, including methodology documents, comment collation, and control checks.
  • Provide general support to the team, especially around data reporting and formatting, contributing to climate risk monitoring and internal process improvements.
  • Become familiar with Climate Risk team process documents and contribute to the continuous improvement of internal procedures, including streamlining and automation of data workflows.
  • Assist in coordinating meetings and events, and collaborate with other Bank departments to refine climate-related financial risk assessment and monitoring processes.
  • Work in line with the Bank's Behavioural Competencies and Corporate Behaviours.


Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Degree in data science and/or, economics, engineering, or related field or comparable professional experience. Familiarity and some experience in data control or finance as well as climate-related financial risk is desirable.
  • Knowledge of climate-related financial risks.
  • Strong time management delivery and effective organisational skills and ability to multi-task without losing attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Proven analytical research and quantitative skills, particularly advanced Excel, are critical.
  • Ability to gather, organize, manage, derive insights, and control data is an essential requirement.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and to deadlines and under time pressure.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with Data analysis skill including the ability to interrogate and prompt co-pilot or similar LLM process and present the results to a non-technical audience.
