Intelligence Researcher

Overview

South Wales Police is seeking an Intelligence Researcher for its Force Intelligence and Organised Crime Unit. The role involves gathering, analysing and reporting intelligence from various data sources to support police investigations.

About the Team

We are a professional, committed, inclusive and engaging team operating across locations such as Bridgend, Pontypridd, Neath and Fairwater in Cardiff, with flexible working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately extract data and intelligence from appropriate databases and ensure it is inputted into analytical databases used by the South Wales Police.
• Scan and evaluate information from a wide range of open and closed information sources; research information related to problems, patterns, trends and series for analysts.
• Undertake basic data manipulation and graphical representation, producing accurate and user-friendly reports of research activity.

Skills and Experience

Ability to research and prioritize data from large datasets, format, cleanse and report on findings in both written and graphical formats. A sound knowledge of Excel is essential. Ability to work within a team and independently, using initiative to manipulate data and seek additional information to enhance understanding of criminal activity.

Additional Requirements

The successful candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC level. Internal candidates subject to an ongoing PSD investigation may experience delayed placement, assessed on a case by case basis.
