Job Description

The Integration and Resettlement Team is based at Whitecross Centre (WA5 1PT) and provides support to all WBC managed resettlement schemes, including support to asylum seekers and refugees and vulnerable persons, including military veterans.

We work closely with other WBC Teams (Contact Warrington, Housing Needs, Benefits and Exchequer Services) and with many partner agencies, including the Home Office and Serco, a wide range of VCSE and CIC partnerships and grass roots groups or independent volunteer groups who we commission and support to provide a range of diversionary activities. All activities are funded via external resettlement grants.

For Military Veterans, we work in partnership with our Veterans Community Support Centre (Based in Orford Park) and with the Armed Forces Strategic Network to provide intensive, wrap around support to ex armed forces personnel and military families who are resident or returning to Warrington who require advice, information and support as well as case management to address any barriers they face.

The role

We are recruiting to 3 WTE Integration and Resettlement Officer positions on a fixed term basis for 2 years.

  • 2 posts will support resettlement schemes related to asylum seekers and refugees and the Homes for Ukraine Scheme
  • 1 post will case manage and support other vulnerable persons including military veterans. This post will develop a close and collaborative relationship with our Veterans Community Support Centre in Orford Park to further the aims of Operation Valour and our unique multi-agency Team around the Veteran Approach.
What's needed?

For the posts supporting asylum seekers, refugees and Ukrainian schemes:

  • An ability to communicate effectively with service users who's first language is not English. Prior experience of working within the resettlement and integration agenda would be advantageous.
  • The ability to work within the guidelines of each resettlement scheme and develop an awareness of each scheme, including the limitations of each scheme.
  • An ability to manage a caseload and carry cases from referral through to case closure
  • Maintain accurate and up to date case records
  • Develop positive working relationships with a broad range of internal WBC teams and external partners
  • Offer face to face 121 appointments from our designated sites.
  • Support the delivery of groups
  • The ability to work flexibly and independently. The roles will be predominantly on site and face to face across multiple locations, requiring cross site travel within Warrington.

For the post supporting vulnerable persons, including Veterans:

  • Lived experience of serving within the Armed Forces Community would be advantageous
  • A sound knowledge of all organisations supporting the Armed Forces Community
  • An ability to manage a caseload and carry cases from referral through to case closure
  • Maintain accurate and up to date case records, including data capture on the Operation Valour database
  • Develop positive working relationships with a broad range of internal WBC teams and external partners
  • Offer face to face 121 appointments from designated sites, including significant time allocated to the Veterans Community Support Centre
  • The ability to work flexibly and independently. The roles will be predominantly on site and face to face across multiple locations, requiring cross site travel within Warrington
