Job Description
Electrician / Instrumentation Engineer 
Plympton, Devon
Monday to Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm
Start: ASAP
We're recruiting for an experienced Electrician / Instrumentation Engineer to join the engineering team at a well-established industrial processing site in Plympton. This role is key to maintaining the performance and reliability of plant equipment, covering electrical systems, instrumentation, PLCs, and combustion controls.
Working within a kaolin calcination plant, you'll carry out both planned and reactive maintenance to keep equipment running safely, efficiently, and in line with compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Electrical, ICA, PLC & combustion maintenance and fault-finding
- Diagnose, calibrate, and repair instrumentation and control systems
- Support and lead plant improvement and optimisation projects
- Use CMMS for work order management and materials sourcing
- Ensure compliance with ISO9001, ISO14001, and HSE legislation
- Collaborate with the wider engineering and operations teams
- Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and hazard-free working environment
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (Apprenticeship trained or equivalent)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Strong background in industrial maintenance
- Experience with PLCs, variable speed drives, and combustion systems
- Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Good working knowledge of health & safety legislation
- Full UK driving licence required
