About the role

To triangulate a range of internal and external data sources to provide insight (market, competitors, and consumers) that senior stakeholders can use to drive better business decision-making, delivering the Partnership plan and enhancing the customer and Partner experience.

• Expected salary: Up to £68,000 (dependent on experience).
• Contract type: This position is a 12-month Secondment.
• Working pattern/flexible working: The Partnership has adopted a hybrid working approach, allowing a mixture of office and home-based work based on personal needs and business requirements.
• Location: This role is based at our London Office.

Key responsibilities

What you lead

• Lead strategic insight projects to deliver relevant, actionable insights to stakeholders, validated through multiple sources.
• Scope insight objectives for complex projects, ensuring appropriate methodologies are used in agreement with key stakeholders.

Evangelist for

• Seek out richer insight sources and demonstrate innovation and proactivity using external sources and customer trends.
• Support the sharing of insights across DI&A and the broader partnership.

What are you responsible for

• Ensure clarity of insight objectives and adopt suitable methodologies to generate robust insights.
• Triangulate data sources to answer business questions and identify new insights.
• Review all insight project outputs and materials.
• Manage and challenge third-party suppliers to ensure timely, budget-friendly, and accurate project delivery.

Team management responsibilities

• Lead a high-performing, engaged team, fostering a sharing culture around research outputs.

Products and toolkits

• Maintain a toolkit of insight products and a methodology guide to ensure consistency across JLP.
• Collaborate with other managers and utilize expertise in data analysis and social research methods.

Essential skills/experience

• Business-savvy thinker, preferably with retail experience, capable of responding quickly to insight requests.
• Proficient in working under tight deadlines, defining clear briefs, and interpreting insight requirements.
• Knowledge of key data sources like Kantar, TGI, YouGov, Mintel, IRI, Foresight Factory, etc.
• Ability to analyze large data sets and translate findings into actionable insights.
• Extensive experience (5-10 years) in a customer insight role within retail or FMCG sectors.
• Experience managing teams, developing culture, and collaborating with agencies.
• Strong industry networks and thought leadership skills.
• Excellent storytelling and visualization skills for senior audiences.

Desirable skills/experience

• Experience in purpose-led or employee-owned environments.
• Experience developing thought leadership materials or publishing papers.
