Job Description
Inpatient Physiotherapist

We have an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified or established Physiotherapist to join our friendly team at Forest of Dean Hospital. The successful candidate will work on the inpatient ward with a multidisciplinary team of occupational therapists, nurses, GPs, mental health services and social care.

The closing date is 23 April 2026.

Main duties of the job

Assessment and management of patients with multiple pathologies, implementation of rehabilitation goals, coordination of safe discharges, and promotion of a risk positive ethos in a ward based environment.

Job responsibilities
  • Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner with supervision from senior physiotherapists.
  • Accountable for a designated patient caseload and prioritise work accordingly.
  • Gain informed consent and conduct comprehensive assessment and accurate diagnosis of patients, including complex presentations.
  • Formulate individualised clinical management programmes, evaluate progress and adjust treatment programmes as required.
  • Provide spontaneous and planned advice, teaching and instruction to relatives, carers, other disciplines and agencies.
  • Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, review patient progress and discharge planning.
  • Ensure accurate, comprehensive and up to date electronic clinical records are maintained and goals evaluated and reviewed in line with Trust guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy.
  • HCPC Registration.
Experience
  • Broad range of clinical experience through comprehensive student placements.
  • Evidence of working unsupervised.
  • Evidence of working across multi disciplinary and multi agency boundaries.
  • Solid experience in physiotherapy or ability to demonstrate relevant experience in rehabilitation.
