This is a great opportunity for a passionate and creative Linux engineer with a software-engineering mindset. Our environment is varied and complex, spanning bare-metal and virtualised Windows and Linux workloads across private and public cloud.

You will enhance our system integration capability and support the efficient delivery of projects across the department. Working with system data, you will apply AI-driven techniques to generate insights and improve observability across our estate. You will also support architects with broader technical initiatives and have the opportunity to upskill across these areas.

You may be required to provide out-of-hours support on a rota basis, which could occasionally require in-office weekend presence.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Fluency in one or more of the following languages: Python, Go, bash, PowerShell or Ansible.

Solid understanding of Version Control (Git) and CI/CD principles.

Experience working with public cloud is advantageous.

Fundamental understanding of networking, load balancing, storage and virtualisation.

Experience in collecting and visualising metric and log data, such as Splunk or Elastic.

Effective time management, organisation and work prioritisation to meet deadlines while maintaining excellent attention to detail.

Ability to apply a logical approach to problem solving while under pressure and be an active communicator on technical issues.

Bachelors degree within a relevant field would be advantageous.

What you will be doing

Collaborating with technology specialists to deliver platform enhancements.

Recognising areas for continuous improvement and opportunities for automation.

Debugging complex issues in a high availability architecture.

Defining and enhancing system monitoring using modern tooling and practices.

Acting as a point of escalation.

Participating in an on call support rota for technical escalation.
