Start: ASAP
Duration: 6-12 months
Location: 3 days on site per week in Reading
Pay: INSIDE IR35, negotiable
We are looking for a skilled Storage & Infrastructure Support Specialist to support enterprise systems, manage key technologies, and ensure high levels of availability for critical services. The role requires strong technical expertise and an ability to resolve complex problems efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and support Veritas NetBackup installations and HP Enterprise Storage (3Par)
* Implement and manage SAN fabrics, Switches, and associated components
* Provide fault resolution for enterprise storage and backup solutions
* Develop and maintain Shell Scripts for automation
* Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels and challenge senior decision-makers as needed
* Provide technical leadership and mentor junior staff
* Analyse technical issues and provide solutions within limited timeframes
* Contribute to high-performing teams, balancing multiple tasks without compromising quality
* Support disaster recovery processes and business-critical systems
* Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to all stakeholders
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Experience with Veritas NetBackup, HP 3Par, and SAN infrastructure
* Strong knowledge of Red Hat Linux (v6/7/8/9) and Windows (2012/2016/2019/2022)
* Experience with networking protocols, SAN topologies, and disaster recovery
* Proven experience in ITIL-based support environments
* Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to take ownership of technical issues
* Excellent communication skills, both technical and non-technical
* Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
Desirable:
* Customer-facing experience in an IT service role
* Experience supporting business-critical Real Time systems
* Strong accountability to resolve issues successfully
* Ability to mentor colleagues and expand technical knowledge into new domains
* Experience working in a 2nd line support environment, with site attendance required
Note: Candidates must be eligible for SC security clearance and able to pass background vetting process.
