Job Title: Cloud Migration Architect (Azure)
Location: Wokingham/Warwick- 3 Days a Week
Rate: 550 GBP
Immediate- 2 Week Notice only
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Migration Architect with a strong background in large-scale application migrations to Azure. The ideal candidate will drive cloud migration strategies, solutions, and processes for our organization, ensuring seamless transitions from on-premises or other environments to Azure. They will work closely with engineering, DevOps, and project management teams to design and implement robust, scalable, and secure cloud architectures that align with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Migration Strategy & Planning: Lead the design and execution of end-to-end Azure cloud migration strategies, including the assessment, planning, and execution phases.
- Solution Architecture: Define and document cloud architectures, ensuring scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions that align with the organization's objectives.
- Azure Expertise: Leverage deep Azure expertise to guide migration projects, from design to implementation, including experience with Azure IaaS, PaaS, networking, and storage.
- Application Modernization: Assess and modernize existing applications for cloud readiness, including containerization, serverless solutions, and API management, optimizing applications to maximize the benefits of Azure cloud.
- Collaboration with DevOps Teams: Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment, monitoring, and maintenance to foster a DevOps culture and streamline operational efficiencies.
- Risk Management: Identify and address potential risks in migration, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Develop and maintain architectural documentation, guidelines, and standards; provide training and mentorship to internal teams on Azure best practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with business stakeholders to understand requirements, communicate migration progress, and resolve any technical challenges effectively.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 8+ years in IT architecture, with 5+ years in Azure migrations.
- Azure Expertise: Strong expertise in Azure services, including VMs, Azure SQL, Kubernetes, Functions, API Management, and other relevant cloud services.
- DevOps Knowledge: Solid understanding of DevOps principles and experience with tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Terraform, and Ansible.
- Migration Tools & Techniques: Familiarity with cloud migration tools (e.g., Azure Migrate, ASR, third-party tools) and strategies (lift and shift, refactoring, re-platforming).
- Certifications: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or other relevant certifications are highly desirable.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
