Infection Prevention and Control Lead

Mount Alvernia Hospital, Guildford

Hours: 22.5 hours per week - permanent

Salary: Up to £55,000.00 FTE per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

We have an opportunity for an Infection Prevention and Control Lead to join our Nursing department staff.

This is a part-time role for 22.5 hours per week. The site can support a range of shift patterns across the week.

Duties of this role include:
  • Lead on the implementation and monitoring of the hospital's infection prevention and control strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and guidance (e.g. CQC, HIS, HTM 01-05, and national IPC standards).
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all IPC matters and provide regular reports to senior management and governance committees.
  • Oversee surveillance of healthcare-associated infections, antibiotic resistance, and outbreaks.
  • Investigate and report IPC incidents, supporting root cause analysis (RCA) and implementation of action plans.
  • Carry out regular audits and risk assessments, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
  • Registered Nurse (Adult) or relevant healthcare professional with active NMC/HCPC registration.
  • Significant experience in infection prevention and control.
  • Strong knowledge of current IPC legislation, national guidance, and audit standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence practice across all staff levels.
  • Experience in incident investigation, audit, and delivering staff training.
