Main duties of the jobProvide maternity cover to manage a caseload of infants and their families with breastfeeding or infant feeding problems. Facilitate the appropriate management of infants within the trust. Act as a resource for families requiring specialist intervention, maintaining standards and ensuring effective liaison.
Collaborate with a band 7 colleague to deliver a specialist service aimed at improving family care standards and promoting multi-professional working through clinical practice, education, research, and audit within the clinical governance framework.
Ensure UNICEF baby-friendly standards are maintained, primarily in the neonatal unit.

Person Specification Qualifications- Recognised breastfeeding specialist/supporter qualification
- UNICEF baby-friendly 2-day training certificate
- At least 2 years of hospital-based experience
- Substantial experience supporting breastfeeding dyads in hospital or community settings
- Knowledge of specialist nursing areas
- Understanding of breast anatomy and physiology
- Knowledge of correct positioning and attachment techniques
- Understanding of alternative feeding methods
- Ability to recognize safe and contraindicated medications regarding breast milk and lactation
- Teaching skills for sharing knowledge with peers and staff
- Knowledge of expressing milk importance and techniques
- Problem-solving skills related to breastfeeding issues

Salary: £44,806 to £53,134 per annum, pro rata.
