Workingwith the Patient Safety Incident Response Manager, you will develop manage andsupport mechanisms for learning and sharing patient safety lessons fromreported incident investigations and excellence in practice.
Youwill co-ordinate activity on the Risk Management Database (Datix) across allmodules - incidents, actions, claims, and risk registers. Through effective design, audit and training,strive to ensure uniformity and quality of data entry from across the Trust.
Thepost holder will be the in-house specialist lead for Datix throughout theTrust, ensuring staff are trained and supported in use of the product; ensuringthat correct data entry leads to accurate statistical reports and that theTrust is able to utilise the system to the fullest.
Thepost holder will act as system administrator being responsible for evaluatingsystem updates and overseeing installation, developing policies for controllingaccess and monitoring use of the system; they will be responsible for liaisingwith the external software provider and ensuring that all software problems arerectified promptly.
Main duties of the jobProjectmanage the day-to-day management of Datixweb across the organisation ensuringthat it complies with the national requirements of external agencies (Healthand Safety Executive, NHS England, MHRA)
Contributeto identifying and planning a strategy to further improve the utilisation ofDatix-web as a tool for risk management supporting good clinical governance. Beresponsible for the way in which the system is used to ensure learning andfeedback from reported incidents and near misses.
Leadon the development, initiation and delivery of training on the Risk Managementprinciples underpinning the Datix modules (Incidents and Risk Register) andlead the first-line support for queries. This will involve training seniormanagement as well as front line clinical and non-clinical teams. Some of thetraining will involve explaining complex information in how the Datix modulesmeet clinical governance assurance requirements.
Buildrelationships with senior Operational Managers, Clinical Governance Leads andDatix users across the organisation in order to change manage the use ofDatixweb and encourage collaborative working.

Thepost involves support the Trusts Risk Management systems to ensure themanagement of the approx. 30,000 incidents recorded on the Trusts incidentmanagement system are managed in accordance with local and national policiesand procedures.
Thepost holder will ensure provision of advice, support and training to members ofstaff at all levels across the Trust who have access rights to the Datixsystem. This advice and support will be provided without reference to amanager. The post holder will beresponsible for ensuring the uploading of approx. 36,000 patient safetyincidents per year to the Learning from Patient Safety Events System (LFPSE).
Person Specification Experience- Experience in delivering training
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Development of training courses in a variety of formats for mixed audiences
- Flexible, adaptable
- Ability to relate to staff at all levels both within and out with the Trust
- Able to work as part of a team but also on own initiative
- Awareness of need for discretion and high levels of confidentiality
- Highly developed IT skills
- Working knowledge of the associated Datix modules
- Excellent organisational skills, including high level of accuracy and ability to work to tight deadlines
- Ability to liaise effectively and effect change with managers and Datix users at all levels
- Ability to analyse, investigate and interpret complex data and produce statistical reports
- Extensive use of Microsoft packages - specific knowledge of Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Highly specialist knowledge of Datix database, particularly the incident reporting module, gained through experience
- Experience of delivering presentations
- Working knowledge of SQL
- Experience in incident investigation
- Numerate and literate to minimum of degree or equivalent level
- Knowledge of a range of IM&T areas in computing or relevant proven experience in introducing Datix applications
