IIoT Architect (Perm)
- Up to £90,000 per annum + bonus of up to 15%
- 3 days per week on-site in Coventry
Join a leading company as an IIoT Architect and lead the convergence of operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) to power a smarter, safer gas network. This strategic role sits within the Enterprise Architecture and Transformation function, focusing on defining the target state architecture for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and ensuring seamless integration across the organisation.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Shape enterprise-wide IIoT and OT/IT convergence strategy, advising senior stakeholders on technology investment and digital transformation priorities.
- Define capability models, reference architectures, and roadmaps that guide delivery across various time horizons.
- Lead architectural thinking across edge computing, IIoT platforms, cloud integration, and data architecture.
- Embed cyber resilience and regulatory compliance into IIoT design, supporting Critical National Infrastructure requirements.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and set future directions as part of the Industry 4.0 and OT digitalisation journey.
- Collaborate closely with enterprise, domain, and solution architects, while mentoring teams and building architectural capability.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in enterprise or domain architecture roles within complex industrial or operational environments.
- Deep understanding of OT and IIoT systems including SCADA, PLCs, RTUs, telemetry systems, and data historians.
- Experience with edge to cloud architectures, edge computing, and edge analytics.
- Knowledge of industrial protocols such as MQTT, OPC UA, Modbus, and DNP3.
- Understanding of connectivity technologies including LoRaWAN, NB IoT, and 5G.
- Experience aligning architecture to NIS regulations, NCSC CAF, IEC 62443, and ISO 27001.
- Strong grasp of data platform architecture, integration patterns, standardisation, and contextualisation.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, meaningful insights for senior decision-makers.
