HVAC ENGINEER - Multi-Skilled

Job schedule: Full time, 42.5 hours a week, 08:00 to 17:00 Monday - Friday, Permanent
PurposeAs an HVAC Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing a broad range of HVAC equipment, ensuring systems operate efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with regulations.
Working from the direction of our friendly office team based in Ringwood, you will work closely with site teams and colleagues and play an active part in improving system reliability and performance.
Other DutiesOther duties include:
- Carry out routine maintenance and servicing on HVAC systems, including Air Conditioning Systems, Commercial Heating systems (including Gas Boilers and associated mechanical plant), AHUs, chillers, heat pumps, VAV and FCU units, ductwork, and control systems
- Conduct inspections, testing, and performance checks to identify faults, inefficiencies, and compliance issues
- Complete repairs and component replacements to keep systems operating at peak performance
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using client logbooks and CAFM systems, including service reports, test certificates, and parts usage
- Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations, site procedures, and relevant standards such as F-Gas, Gas Regulations and building regulations
- Support site teams with mechanical and HVAC works as required, liaising with contractors when necessary
- Contribute to planned preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and operating costs on client assets.
A successful Multi-Skilled HVAC Engineer will demonstrate competence across the following areas:
HVAC & Refrigeration- Servicing, fault-finding, and repair of commercial and domestic HVAC systems
- Experience with Split, multi-split, VRV/VRF, Chillers and air-cooled/heat pump systems
- Understanding of airflow, ductwork, balancing, and ventilation principles
- Ability to diagnose performance issues and optimise system efficiency
- Installation, servicing, and fault diagnosis of commercial and domestic gas appliances
- Experience working on Boilers (commercial and domestic), Warm air units, Gas-fired heaters and plant
- Ability to complete gas safety checks and certification accurately
- Installation, servicing, and maintenance of unvented hot water cylinders
- Fault diagnosis on temperature, pressure, expansion, and safety devices
- Understanding of G3 Building Regulations and compliance requirements
- Competence in electrical fault-finding on HVAC and building services equipment
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics
- Working knowledge of BMS interfaces, HVAC control strategies (time schedules, interlocks, safeties)
- Delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in line with schedules and SLAs
- Rapid and methodical response to reactive breakdowns
- Identification of recurring faults and contribution to long-term reliability improvements
- NVQ / City & Guilds Level 2 or 3 in Air Conditioning / Refrigeration, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
- F-Gas Category 1
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Unvented Hot Water (G3) certification
- Electrical qualification (e.g. 18th Edition or equivalent)
- PASMA and/or IPAF (or willingness to obtain)
