Job Description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading infrastructure and utilities contractor on the appointment of a HSEQ Advisor.

Working closely with site teams, management and subcontractors, you will provide practical HSEQ support across live projects, ensuring compliance, reducing operational risk and driving continuous improvement across safety, environmental and quality performance.

In your new role:
  • Provide competent HSEQ advice and support to site teams, management and operational personnel
  • Support the development and continual improvement of HSEQ management systems in line with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001
  • Monitor project and site compliance with HSEQ legislation, company procedures and client requirements
  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits and compliance monitoring across power and utilities projects
  • Develop and review risk assessments, method statements and other safe systems of work
  • Monitor subcontractor activities, reviewing documentation and ensuring appropriate HSEQ standards are maintained
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, completing root cause analysis and ensuring effective corrective actions
  • Monitor HSEQ performance, KPIs and objectives, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Prepare Stage Plans, Emergency Response Plans, pre-qualification documentation and other project HSEQ information
  • Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and internal HSEQ training to employees and contractors
  • Support occupational health activities and ensure appropriate records and documentation are maintained
  • Work closely with the HSEQ Manager and operational leadership to develop initiatives that promote best practice and a positive HSEQ culture
What you'll need to succeed:
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualification
  • Previous HSEQ experience within electrical, power, utilities, telecommunications or a similar infrastructure environment
  • Knowledge of relevant HSEQ legislation and its practical application across operational sites
  • Experience conducting site audits, inspections and incident investigations
  • Experience developing risk assessments and method statements
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills with the ability to engage effectively with site teams and management
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities and work to deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Willingness to travel nationwide as required
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
  • Experience specifically within the power or electrical utilities sector
  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 management systems
  • Experience monitoring and managing subcontractor HSEQ compliance
  • Previous involvement in tender, pre-qualification or project HSEQ documentation
  • Valid CSCS Card
