Choose one of the following work hours: 15 00, 16 00 or 16 30, Monday to Friday. Only apply if you can work all five days.
Housekeepers provide a comprehensive catering service at ward level, including serving patient meals and beverages, washing up and general cleaning of the ward kitchen.
Responsibilities- Clean and prepare ward food trolleys for meal service and deliver the food service trolley to wards.
- Assist nursing staff during managed meal times with portioning and plating food from the food trolley at ward level.
- Provide catering related duties such as making toast, setting up and distributing patient beverages.
- Prepare and deliver ward stores and supplies to departments.
- Ensure safe, secure and hygienic storage of stocks at ward or department level, for example cleaning chemicals, consumables, dry and refrigerated food items, and equipment.
- Ensure safe disposal and packaging of waste in accordance with NHS policy (clinical waste, household waste).
- Report faults and failures of electrical equipment or building fabric to the relevant team (Team Leader or Ward Manager).
- Complete all working schedules and relevant paperwork accurately and within given timelines.
- Follow all guidance and procedures relating to Healthcare Associated Infection to ensure safety and prevent the spread of infection.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrate courteous behaviour.
- Work with the department on performance and development reviews.
- Work with policies and procedures of NHS Portsmouth and the department.
- Occasionally be asked to work in other areas of the facilities service after appropriate training and support.
- No formal qualifications are necessary; training will be provided.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently.
- Ability to respond constructively to unpredictable situations.
- Remain calm, focused and able to cope with work under pressure.
