Housekeeper - AMU Short Stay

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work alongside our friendly and motivated team of nurses and health care professionals on AMU Short Stay. We require someone dynamic, proactive, and enthusiastic with the ability to work well on their own and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role. The housekeeper role incorporates an array of non clinical duties to include being responsible for the ordering and organization of stores, ensuring stock levels are maintained at all times, completion of daily and weekly audits, challenging non compliance and escalating findings to ward manager/nurse in charge and feeding back to staff to ensure that high standards of nursing care are adhered to at all times.
Main duties of the job- To receive, welcome and guide visitors on arrival to the ward, liaising with other staff as appropriate.
- To act as the co ordinator for the ward on behalf of the nurse in charge to ensure that relatives who attend the ward in difficult circumstances, i.e. bereavement/breaking bad news or upset, are dealt with promptly and appropriately using tact and empathy where necessary.
To respond to requests for general information.
To receive and pass on information to others, maintaining confidentiality.
To handle minor complaints and take appropriate action.
To be aware of any new food hygiene standards, changes to waste categorisation etc.
To assist the Ward Manager (if necessary) to ensure Mandatory training policy is adhered to by ensuring good record keeping.
Assist the Housekeeper manager and ward manager in evaluating change to local policies.
Contribute to the purchasing of ward equipment and supplies.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications- Willing to work towards NVQ level 3
- NVQ level 3
- Demonstrate competence at working at band 3 level
- Understanding of hospital environment
- Basic knowledge of needs of patients and their relatives
- Assertive and negotiating skills
- Reliable, enthusiastic and motivated

£26,300 to £27,890 a year, pro rata
