Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Hot Side Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing hot dishes, maintaining kitchen organisation, and supporting the overall culinary operations.
Duties
Prepare and cook hot dishes according to established recipes and standards
Assist in meal preparation for service, ensuring timely delivery of orders
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the hot side kitchen area
Ensure all food safety and hygiene regulations are adhered to at all times
Monitor stock levels and communicate needs for ingredients or supplies
Collaborate with team members to optimise workflow during busy periods
Support the plating and presentation of dishes to meet quality standards
Participate in ongoing training programmes to enhance culinary skills
Requirements
Driving is essential due to poor public transport infrastructure
Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service times
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends and evenings if necessary
Basic serving knowledge is advantageous but not essential
