Job Title: Learning Specialist

Position Type: Full-Time


Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting neurodiverse learners in a middle or high school setting.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic reports, learning assessments, and the development of learning plans or IEPs.
  • Deep understanding of learning differences such as ADHD, dyslexia, executive function challenges, and processing disorders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and a collaborative mindset.


Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Special Education, Learning Support, or related field.
  • Experience in an international or bilingual school setting.
  • Knowledge of executive functioning coaching and/or academic intervention programs.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus, though not required.

Position Overview

Barcelona High School is seeking a knowledgeable, compassionate, and collaborative Learning Specialist to support students in Grades 6-12. The Learning Specialist will play a central role in ensuring that all students, especially those with identified learning differences, receive the support they need to thrive academically and personally. This position involves working directly with students, teachers, families, and administrators to create and implement individualized strategies that promote success.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct academic support to students with a range of learning profiles through one-on-one or small group instruction.
  • Develop and oversee individualized learning plans (ILPs) for students with diagnosed learning differences, in collaboration with teachers, counselors, and families.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support the differentiation of instruction and assessment.
  • Assist in identifying students who may benefit from learning support services through observation, data analysis, and teacher consultation.
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for inclusive teaching practices and neurodiverse learners.
  • Coordinate with external professionals (e.g., educational psychologists, therapists) as needed to support student needs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student services, accommodations, and progress.
  • Offer professional development and coaching for teachers around learning support strategies, accommodations, and best practices.
  • Participate fully in school life, including student advising, meetings, and community events.
