HGV Class 2 Driver - Gatwick Airport

Overview

Optme Group is looking for experienced Class 2 HGV Drivers to support a major logistics operation at Gatwick Airport. This isn't long-haul work - you'll be making short, fixed runs between the Gatwick Consolidation Centre and the Airside Operation. Expect around 4 trips per shift.

What's on Offer

• Rate of Pay: £18.01 per hour (plus Holiday and Pension)
• Shifts Pattern: 4 on 4 off (2 Days, 2 Nights, 4 Off)
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift Timing: Example times below
• Staff parking
• Weekly pay (Every Friday)
• Temp to Perm (performance-based)

Key Duties

• Drive a Class 2 vehicle between two fixed airport sites (short distance only)
• Load, unload and deliver goods
• Collect returns and empty equipment for return to the consolidation centre
• Follow all customer-specific and airport procedures
• Maintain regular contact with the warehouse management team
• Check all goods against the manifest and report any discrepancies
• Visually inspect items for damage and record any issues promptly
• Secure loads correctly and ensure they stay within weight limits
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and complete Ops 13 paperwork
• Comply with working time rules, CPC requirements and tachograph regulations
• Perform any reasonable additional duties as required

Requirements

• You must hold a Full UK Driving License.
• You must hold a valid CPC and Digi Card.
• Great understanding of the English language.
• Passionate and take pride in their work.
• Must be able to provide 5-year checkable history, in order for us to obtain your blue airside pass.
• Drug and alcohol testing will be required prior to employment.

Shifts

The Airport is operational 7 days per week and candidates will be working on a rolling rota. An example of the shift hours:

• Day 1: 06:00-18:00
• Day 2: 06:00-18:00
• Day 3: 18:00-06:00
• Day 4: 18:00-06:00
