About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Plant Fitter to join a leading mineral exploration drilling contractor based in Cornwall.

Working within a busy workshop and supporting drilling operations across the UK, you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairing a wide range of heavy plant, drilling equipment and support vehicles, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable and ready for deployment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service, maintain and repair heavy plant, drilling rigs and associated equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs.
  • Inspect equipment and complete repair reports.
  • Replace and overhaul engines, transmissions, pumps and hydraulic components.
  • Carry out welding and fabrication repairs where required.
  • Ensure all equipment meets company safety standards before deployment.
  • Work closely with drilling crews to minimise equipment downtime.
  • Maintain workshop housekeeping and comply with health and safety procedures.
  • Previous experience as a Plant Fitter, Heavy Plant Engineer or Plant Mechanic.
  • Experience working on heavy plant, construction, quarrying, mining or drilling equipment.
  • Strong hydraulic, diesel engine and mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair equipment independently.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Experience working on drilling rigs or mineral exploration equipment.
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, JCB, Atlas Copco, Sandvik or Epiroc equipment.
  • Welding or fabrication experience.
  • Electrical diagnostics.
  • HGV licence (advantageous but not essential).
