Healthcare Assistant

This is a healthcare assistant role at Emerald Place Clinic, a general adolescent inpatient unit for the care and treatment of young people aged 13 up to 18 with a primary diagnosis of mental illness across a wide range of disorders and complex needs. The successful candidate will join a supportive and inclusive team, providing care and support to the patients while contributing to their recovery pathway.

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will be responsible for ward rounds, analysing behaviours and adapting care accordingly with colleagues, updating patient records, and providing overall care and support, which may include assisting with personal hygiene. You will work in a challenging but rewarding environment, requiring a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and vigilance. The shift pattern is 12.5 hours a day, 3-4 days a week including nights and weekends, with 37.5 hours per week.

Emerald Place Clinic is a general adolescent inpatient unit for the care and treatment of young people aged 13 up to 18. Young people who are admitted to the unit will have a primary diagnosis of mental illness across a wide range of disorders and complex needs. These could include mental health conditions such as mood disorders and acute psychosis. Additionally, young people may have co existing additional needs such as neurodevelopmental disorders, including mild learning disabilities or autism. A young person could also be admitted if they have disordered eating.
